Hold the front page, irony connoisseurs. The print edition of the NUJ’s The Journalist magazine has been scrapped from its April edition. All future editions of the magazine will be distributed as PDFs or an equivalent format.

Smiths News H1 pretax up 5.9 percent. Selected quotes: “Revenues were up just 0.6 percent …, with strong price growth in the quality newspaper market offsetting a mixed picture in magazines, where … monthly titles have continued to decline”

“Magazine sales were down 2.6% to £265.2 million “

The consumer magazine division of News International made a loss of almost £10m last year. (From Press Gazette) This was on revenue of a little over £12 million.  (Those figures bear repeating – for every £1 in revenue NI magazines is spending £1.83p). (more…)
