Sell much through Borders? It looks like it may be an awful lot less very shortly. You might want to check with the wee gnomes in accounts to see when was the last time you were paid by them.

  1. Spare a thought for all the sub-prime publishers who would claim in the ad sales pitch that ‘we are sold at Borders and other bookshops’. This usually meant the two London branches, Islington and Charing Cross. And ususally no more than 10 copies. What will you put into your circulation and distribution data now? Other retailers won’t touch you.

On the other hand, Borders was possibly the only importer of some wonderful art and fashion titles, which will now cease to be available to buy in the UK.

  2. Borders was quite significant for many specialist magazines. Not a huge number of sales, but the origin of quite a few subscribers.
