The Ex-Factor

A little snippet of news on the Media Bulletin website yesterday about the X Factor magazine. “This year’s final issue of X Factor Magazine is out on Wednesday 15 December.”

Interestingly, when this title was launched back in September the talk was of this being a new weekly that would have a life over and above the television series.  As this news item stated: “The magazine will continue to be produced beyond the end of the current series and will likely have a 51-issue year.”

Hmmm. Couple this with the stories circulating of a less than sparkling sale of the initial, Tesco-exclusive, issue and the departure of the launch editor and this is beginning to look like one of those embarassing auditions by some no-hoper who falls back into obscurity.

Hot on the heels of Centaur’s closure of Public Sector Building, Unity Media has suspended Public Sector and Local Government Building magazine.

Amusingly, they say that this is a “temporary suspension of the publication, which will be reviewed at a later date”.

Yeah, right, as I believe the young people say.
